As the UK continues to grapple with housing shortages, surplus Ministry of Defence land represents a significant opportunity to deliver much-needed new homes and communities. Speaking to the Daily Express, our Managing Director, Simon Cox, highlighted the potential of former MOD sites such as Fort Halstead in Kent to support sustainable growth and long-term regeneration. He said: “Ministry of Defence sites are a very valuable public asset. Opening them up for the right kind of redevelopment would address housing need across the country. However, regeneration of these sites must be strategic, driven by placemaking and crucially be measured in long term social and economic legacy, rather than straight housing volume. "The benefit is that MOD sites already optimise existing infrastructure and nearby settlements. They’re also of sufficient scale to support new neighbourhoods with a lot of social legacy to offer.
