🚜 Wageningen University & Research starts new field trials with genetically modified potatoes! 🥔 After 11 years, WUR is launching new field trials. The goal? To develop potatoes resistant to diseases like Phytophthora, which could lead to a massive reduction in the use of pesticides. 🧬 What’s new? > Instead of just adding genes, we are now also using New Genomic Techniques (NGTs). This allows us to make highly targeted, minor changes to the plant's own DNA—significantly accelerating the breeding process compared to traditional methods.
