Back from the frozen continent ❄️ Marine biologists Fokje Schaafsma, Susanne Kühn and their WUR teammates have just completed an expedition to Antarctica! They spent several months on an icebreaker learning as much as they could about the animals that live on and around this vast, icy continent. From the ship, they counted birds and marine mammals and collected krill, plankton and fish beneath the ice, often working through the night in freezing conditions. Their research helps us better understand and protect the unique habitats and ecosystems of Antarctica. Take a look at what they encountered on their expedition!
