šŸ† We’re proud to share that Marielos PeƱa Claros, Professor on the Ecology of Tropical Managed Forests at Wageningen University & Research, has received the NWO Athena Award. This award recognises female researchers who excel in their field and inspire others to pursue a career in science. In her scientific work, Marielos focuses on the ecology of tropical managed forests, combining ecological research with practical policy advice. Beyond her research, she is committed to encouraging and supporting women in science, helping to inspire the next generation of female researchers. ā€œThis traditionally has been a research field dominated by male researchers,ā€ Marielos says. ā€œI think it is extremely important to support female researchers, not only in this field, but across science in general.ā€ She received the award during the annual conference for life scientists organised by NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) last week. Congratulations, Marielos, a well-deserved recognition of both your scientific achievements and your inspiration to others šŸ‘ Photos: Tom Doms
