🎉 We are pleased to share that Jan Willem van Groenigen has been appointed Chair of Soil Biology at Wageningen University & Research as of April 2026. His work focuses on the role of soil organisms in nutrient cycles, including nitrogen, phosphorus and carbon, and how these processes can contribute to healthier soils and more sustainable agricultural systems. “Soils are among our most valuable natural resources, but their sustainable use is under increasing pressure,” says Jan Willem. Looking ahead, he sees strong opportunities in circular agriculture, particularly in reusing nutrients and organic materials more effectively, with soil life playing a key role.
