📈⚡ Fair and transparent commodity and energy markets are essential to a well-functioning society.   With Project HighLO, Dr. Marjolein Verhulst, Joost Pennings & team are working on new ways to identify market manipulation earlier. And this work is receiving extra recognition this week: as one of the impact cases from Wageningen Social & Economic Research, they have been nominated for the WUR Impact Award 2026! 🎉   Project HighLO is a unique collaboration between Wageningen University & Research and CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research. By combining CERN’s expertise in big data, data storage, processing and analysis with WUR’s methodological knowledge, the team has developed new methods to detect anomalies in market data.   These methods help to better identify and classify potential market manipulation. A key result is the MSA Lab, where these analytical methods are applied in practice.   The impact goes beyond research alone. Thanks to NWO (Dutch Research Council) funding, the MSA Lab can be scaled up globally. In addition, the matrix developed through the project is now also being used by courts in rulings on market manipulation. What makes this project particularly powerful is the broad collaboration of partners, all working towards the same goal: fair, transparent and better-functioning markets.   The WUR Impact Award is being presented for the fourth time this year. And you can help decide the winner. Discover all the nominees and cast your vote! Go to: https://lnkd.in/dW7q_Mn9   #WUR #Innovation #marketmanipulation
