Grateful to speak with Ian Hanomansing about a critical breakthrough in the public safety crisis currently gripping Indo-Canadian communities. By their very nature, the indictments and arrests announced yesterday settle an important debate: this was never an ordinary extortion story. Prosecutors describe something far more nefarious- an internationally agile and adept system of coercion that used targeted violence, including assassination, to intimidate vulnerable communities, govern behaviour and compel submission. That makes this a rule-of-law problem, not simply a crime problem. The revelations are a vindication of what many within the Indo-Canadian community have long known; sadly, they will come as cold comfort to those among them who are merely coping to get by, still under the gun, and feeling vulnerable, uncertain, and scared. https://lnkd.in/evdr-UpW #RuleOfLaw #TransnationalCrime #ForeignInterference #PublicSafety #CDNPoli
