Inside IO-Link: Speed under control In many applications, it is not only position that counts, but also speed. With their integrated cam switch function, our IO-Link encoders offer a smart way to monitor and control speed, including hysteresis to prevent unwanted switching chatter. What does that mean specifically? An example: A manually controlled crane should only move up to a certain speed. With our encoders, a maximum value can be defined which, when exceeded, triggers a switching signal – e.g. for warning or automatic limitation. Hysteresis ensures that the signal does not immediately bounce back with every minimal fluctuation. 💡 Advantage: No additional sensors required – the rotary encoders monitor speed directly and reliably.
