Inside IO-Link: Position monitoring with cam switch function Our IO-Link encoders enable precise and flexible monitoring of the position of a movement – without the need for additional sensors. The integrated cam switch function (CAM) offers three operating modes that can be optimally used depending on the application: 🔸 Single Point Mode Ideal for simple switching points: the switching state changes as soon as a defined value (SP1) is exceeded or not reached. Optionally available with hysteresis – perfect for clear trigger points, e.g. with a defined end stop. 🔸 Window Mode For monitoring within a range: The switching state becomes active when the measured value moves between two limit values (SP1 & SP2). Symmetrical hysteresis ensures stable switching conditions – e.g. with a movement radius from left to right. 🔸 Two Point Mode For direction-dependent applications: The switching state changes depending on the counting direction when exceeding or falling below SP1 and SP2. Ideal for applications with feedback or cyclic motion. 💡 Advantage: The integrated position monitoring eliminates the need for additional sensors, saving space and costs and reducing complexity.
