Their significance spans from drug discovery to advanced functional materials, making efficient and sustainable access to these molecules a high priority. What's especially exciting is the 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐳𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐳𝐨 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐞-𝐮𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 using a DYNO®-MILL horizontal bead mill, moving from lab-scale bead milling to a more industrial-relevant process. Despite their great synthetic benefits, aryl diazonium and diazo esters are hazardous due to their thermal instability, toxicity, and potential to release harmful gases. 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭, 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐬. This approach offers a cleaner, safer, and more efficient route to generate reactive nitrile imines, reacting 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘶 to provide highly valuable spirocycles.
