The end of a professional career is always a very hard moment, even though we are happy to start a new and curious life, we always miss the good old colleagues and friends who have accompanied us all over the time. This was the case for Prof. ir. H.H. Bert SNIJDER, who handed over the chairmanship of our Technical Committee 8 on Stability of Steel Structures after 17 years of excellent and recognised chairmanship of an extremely important TC. On demand of his pairs and with the approval of the ECCS Board of Directors, Professor Bert SNIJDER has received the ECCS SILVER MEDAL, the highest decoration that ECCS reserves to really exceptionnal experts and persons who have dedicated their lives to constructional steelwork and largely contributed to essential achievements. The Silver Medal was handed over by the chairman of the Technical Management Board of ECCS, Prof. Dr.-Ing.
