"Buy European" isn't enough. "Buy Swiss" isn't either. In his latest blog post, Aarno Aukia connects UCL economist Dr. Cecilia Rikap's concept of "epistemic capture" to what we see every day running infrastructure for regulated Swiss organizations: a Swiss flag on the invoice doesn't equal sovereignty. Neither does a French AI model running on Azure. The real question isn't where your vendor is headquartered. It's whether you can replace them without replacing the technology underneath. Three things actual sovereignty requires: → Open-source foundations you can audit, modify, and migrate away from Thomas Wuest, ti&m CEO, shares how forced vendor migrations pushed them toward open source) → Operational control over the runtime, not just data location → Governance and accountability over geography Also featured: Penny Schiffer's view from UBS on scaling AI adoption, and why the gap between leaders and the rest of Swiss IT is widening.
