Scaling emerging solar technologies from lab-scale to manufacturing takes collaboration, process expertise and innovative thinking. Meet Martin Fischer who been driving that work for more than 12 years. “Hi, I’m Martin. I’m an Industry Manager for Emerging Photovoltaics at VON ARDENNE. Together with a strong team of technologists, experts from mechanical, software and electrical departments, we find solutions for customers. Usually these are entrepreneurs and startups, scientists from universities and research institutions or process experts of established companies. The diverse requirements for manufacturing emerging solar technologies always bring new insights into the outlook of scalable processes. This is what the team drives forward. Understanding the requirements, helping the customer in making a manufacturing technology scalable. But what does scalable mean? VON ARDENNE specializes in large-area coating, by means of vacuum deposition, from the nanometer to the micrometer scale. Large area usually refers to coating widths up to 3.30 meters and tact times of 20 seconds or less per coated glass or tray. Transferring the requirements of emerging photovoltaics from lab-scale to 3.30-meter-wide substrates or trays is a challenge. However, it is highly motivating to see how customers are moving forward on this path. I am proud to work with VON ARDENNE, a family-owned company that always has an open door for new requirements from customers. Please reach out if you want to get in touch with me. I’m looking forward to it!” #perovskite #photovoltaics #vacuumtechnology #pvd
