The new Volvo A50 articulated hauler from Volvo Construction Equipment has received a Red Dot Design Award Product Design award for its safety-led approach to visibility and situational awareness. By rethinking the hauler’s proportions, lowering the engine hood, and improving cab sightlines, the team has made it easier for operators to see people and obstacles near the machine. “This award recognizes years of work to put safety at the heart of articulated hauler design, not as a feature, but as a fundamental design principle,” says Nina Augustsson, Design Director at Volvo CE.
