Understanding Europe's energy transition takes more than a presentation. It takes standing in the middle of it. Last month, Volue hosted a delegation from Japan for a six-day study tour across Norway, Luxembourg, Denmark and Sweden. The itinerary deliberately kept time in meeting rooms to a minimum. Together with the delegation, the team stood on the trading floor at Nord Pool, sat with Statnett SF to see how a national grid stays balanced as renewable output rises and falls, and observed how JAO allocates cross-border capacity, how the Nordic RCC secures the wider system, and how the Baltic Cable links two countries through a single HVDC connection. Site visits included the Middelgrund offshore wind farm and the Karlshamn power plant. One detail stood out to every participant: almost every journey was electric – buses, ferries, trams, even the taxis. The electrification of society was something to experience, not explain. These tours are a demonstration, not a sales pitch. Operators show how they run their own markets and grids, and guests reach their own conclusions about which capabilities would transfer to their market. As Haakon Reiersen Leknes, Head of Growth, Data & Forecasts, puts it: theory has its place, but seeing is believing. 👉 Read Haakon's full commentary on our website: https://lnkd.in/ezhC6b6P Natasha Adams Blair Grant Fumi Kumagai Kenichi Matsumoto Isao Tanaka #EnergyTransition #PowerMarkets #Volue #GridOperations #Renewables
