We remove the stator core from the housing for rewinding. There are three main reasons for this: 1. Cleaning, testing and inspections are much easier with all sides accessible. This ensures we don’t find hidden problems after rewinding and the new coils fit properly without damage during insertion. 2. A round core can be rotated in the oven while curing, significantly improving the electrical values of the rewinding. 3. Removing the core eliminates any hidden dirt in the housing that could contaminate our VPI system – a major concern when varnishing used or burned-out stators.
