What a wonderful week of learning, dialogue and relationship-building in Hong Kong at the International Conference on Human Resilience: Navigating Life Changes & Challenges (HRCONF2026), hosted at Hong Kong Shue Yan University (27–30 May 2026). VMHPAA was proud to be a partner and attend to strengthen our Asia-Pacific collaboration in the resilience, counselling and coaching space. Two of our Executive Team — Shane Warren (Chair) and Susan Sandy (Secretary) — met with colleagues and fellow peak bodies across the region, and we leave with genuine momentum and practical next steps for ongoing cooperation. With gratitude to the teams behind the conference: Organised by • Hong Kong Shue Yan University (HKSYU) • Mrs Dorothy Koo & Dr Ti Hua Koo Centre for Interdisciplinary Evidence-based Practice & Research (CIEBPR) Co-organisers • Asia Pacific Rim Confederation of Counsellors (APRCC) • Asian Professional Counselling & Psychology Association (APCPA) Partners include • HKSYU Dr. Francis Cheung Business Analytics Research Centre; Division of Counselling Psychology (Hong Kong Psychological Society) • The Hong Kong Psychological Society; Associação de Psicologia de Macau • Capital Normal University; Putian University; Wuhan University • Indian Academy of Professional Supervisors; Malaysian Mental Health Association • De La Salle University Manila (College of Liberal Arts); VMHPAA • Association for Coaching There was strong shared energy in the room that it’s time for Australia to step forward again — to host a future gathering in collaboration with counselling bodies across the Asia Pacific region.
