The under-16 leg of the VKB Frankfort Rugbyweek opened at Hoërskool Wilgerivier yesterday with a clear message to young players: rugby shapes more than the scoreboard. Principal Hennie Pelser welcomed the players and coaches, while former Springbok rugby player Deon Stegmann shared his experience from the rugby world. Nannette Pieterse, Regional Marketing Manager at the VKB Group, encouraged the players to carry important values onto the field: “Be grateful for the privilege of playing rugby. Be hungry. Give everything on the field. Fight for every meter, every step, every ball and every tackle.” She also challenged them to play with discipline, courage and trust in their preparation: “Be smart.
