We’re proud to launch the Vistra Friction Index with DealStreetAsia: a data-driven map of where opportunity and operational friction collide across 15 APAC markets. We surveyed 100+ PE and VC fund managers across Asia-Pacific and these are the headline findings: → India tops the Opportunity Index at 0.78, well above the benchmark of 0.64 → Singapore records the lowest friction (0.32), followed by Hong Kong (0.33), New Zealand (0.35) and Australia (0.36) → 57.5% of managers say fundraising is their greatest lifecycle challenge → Markets fall into four deployment archetypes, from Efficient Opportunity to Precision-Entry, each demanding a different operational playbook Despite these headwinds, most managers are adapting rather than retreating. The Friction Index points to a market where operational readiness is becoming as consequential as deal selection, and the managers who can navigate regulation, reporting, cross-border structures and exit planning more effectively will be best positioned for the next cycle.
