Join the Isle of Man’s Cruise Volunteer team and help us deliver a Manx Welcome to visiting cruise passengers! ✨ Each year, the Isle of Man greets thousands of visitors arriving by cruise ship — many experiencing our Island’s beauty, culture, and history for the very first time. Our Cruise Volunteers play a vital role in shaping the first impression, offering friendly guidance and a warm welcome that reflects the spirit of our Island. We are now recruiting new volunteers for the upcoming cruise season. 👉 What the role involves: As a Cruise Volunteer, you’ll be part of a small, supportive team stationed at the Sea Terminal or key locations around Douglas. Occasionally, when ships call at other ports around the Island, our volunteer team is on hand to provide a warm welcome. 👉 Typical duties include: - Greeting passengers as they come ashore - Offering local knowledge on attractions, transport, shops, and walking routes - Providing maps and visitor information - Assisting with directions to coaches, trams, and trains - Answering questions and helping visitors feel at ease - Sharing snippets of Manx culture, history, and heritage - No two ship days are the same — it’s a lively, social role that brings the Island’s hospitality to life. 👉 Time commitment: - Cruise calls take place mainly April to October - Shifts are usually 3–4 hours, depending on ship arrival times - You choose the dates you’re available — completely flexible 👉 Who we’re looking for: You don’t need specialist knowledge just enthusiasm and a friendly manner. 👉 We welcome volunteers who: - Enjoy chatting with people from around the world - Are approachable, patient, and positive - Have an interest in the Isle of Man’s culture and places (training can be provided) - Are reliable and comfortable working outdoors - Speak additional languages (optional but appreciated) 👉 Why join us? - Meet people from across the globe - Share your love of the Isle of Man - Make new friends within the volunteer team - Gain experience in tourism and visitor engagement - Be part of a welcoming tradition that showcases the Island at its best - How to get involved If you’d like to join the Cruise Volunteer team or want to learn more please either email [email protected] or call Seonad on 07624 200181 or Peter on 07624 200292.
