"Quality is often an afterthought in construction." That's not a criticism. It's an honest observation from someone who's been in the quality field for a long time, and has spent years trying to fix it from the inside. Built Environs has delivered some of Australia and New Zealand's most complex social infrastructure. Hospitals. Schools. Stadiums. Airports. They already had a strong QA culture. What they needed was a system that could actually evidence it, in real time, across every trade, every stakeholder, every site. Paper forms. Manual scanning. Emails to chase. Records compiled at the end of a job, sometimes weeks after the fact, with gaps that nobody could fully account for. The industry has operated this way for decades. And for decades, quality has paid the price. For the Lex Hanegraaf and the team, that moment became a line in the sand. We went out to Richmond Football Club's Punt Road Redevelopment to chat to Lex, Varun Dinesh and Alex Browne to see what changed when quality data became live, visible, and available on the spot. "Construction hasn't had this level of visibility and access to real-time quality data ever before."
