We learn standards, specifications, engineering principles, planning tools, and project controls. These skills are essential and they build the foundation of our profession. But as projects become larger and more complex, an important reality emerges: Projects are rarely delayed because of technical challenges alone. More often, projects struggle because of: * Poor communication * Misaligned stakeholders * Delayed decisions * Lack of accountability * Unmanaged risks * Ineffective leadership A technically brilliant engineer may know exactly what needs to be done. A great Project Manager ensures that everyone understands it, supports it, and works together to achieve it. The transition from Engineer to Project Manager is not just a change in title. It is a shift from solving technical problems to leading people, managing expectations, and driving results through collaboration. The most successful Project Managers combine two strengths: ✔ Technical competence to understand the work ✔ Leadership capability to align teams and stakeholders Because projects are delivered by people not drawings, schedules, or software. I’ve seen technically challenging projects succeed because teams were aligned and motivated. I’ve also seen technically simple projects struggle due to poor communication and weak leadership. Technical skills may earn respect. Leadership earns trust. And in project management, trust is often the difference between success and failure. What skill do you believe contributes most to project success: Technical Expertise or Leadership? I’d love to hear your perspective. #ProjectManagement #Leadership #ProjectManager #EngineeringManagement #ProjectLeadership #ConstructionManagement #OilAndGas #InfrastructureProjects #TeamLeadership #StakeholderManagement #Engineering #ProjectExecution #LeadershipDevelopment #Management #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerGrowth #PeopleManagement #ProjectSuccess #EPCProjects #HighVoltage #ADNOC #ARAMCO #SABIC #QATARGAS
