Nicolas Schellman, retired Coast Guard officer and CEO of Central Strategies, LLC, grew up overseas and joined the service after 9-11 wanting to give back to the country that gave him so much. What he found was a tight-knit family where you know everyone. During Hurricane Katrina, Nick was stationed in New Orleans conducting rescue operations. He pulled an elderly woman, frail and on oxygen, from a flooded home. As they headed to safety, she asked him to hold her hand. That moment shifted how he saw his purpose. After transitioning through IT program management and DHS headquarters, Nick chose the hard path: starting his own company. He'll tell you military chaos and business chaos aren't that different.
