🇮🇹 LA TOMBA DI NICOLAS POUSSIN Nicolas Poussin fu sepolto a Roma nel 1665, nella Basilica di San Lorenzo in Lucina. Il suo monumento funebre fu però concepito da François de Chateaubriand, nel 1831, come si legge nella dedica sotto del busto del pittore: "F.-R. Chateaubriand a Nicolas Poussin per la gloria delle arti e l’onore della Francia”. Sotto la dedica si trova la copia in bassorilievo del dipinto “I Pastori d’Arcadia”. Infine le parole di Pietro Bellori, bibliotecario di Cristina di Svezia: "Trattieni il pianto sincero, in questa tomba vive Poussin, che aveva dato la vita ignorando egli stesso di morire. Qui egli giace, ma egli vive e parla nei quadri". 🇬🇧 THE TOMB OF NICOLAS POUSSIN Nicolas Poussin was buried in Rome in 1665 in the basilica of san Lorenzo in Lucina. His funerary monument was commissioned by François de Chateaubriand in 1831 as we can read in the inscription written below the statue: "F.-R. Chateaubriand to Nicolas Poussin for the glory of the arts and the honor of France”. Below the inscription there is the copy in low relief of the painting “Shepherds of Arcadia”. In the end we can find the words of Pietro Bellori librarian of Christina, Queen of Sweden: “Hold back the sincere tears, in this tomb lives Poussin, who gave life ignoring himself death.
