🎓 RD12 Workshop at PSI: Advancing Research on X-ray Radiation Damage Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting RD12, the 12th International Workshop on X-ray Radiation Damage to Biological Samples (https://lnkd.in/gzfz6jfN) at PSI Paul Scherrer Institut — an event supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation SNSF Scientific Exchanges programme, SLS Techno Trans AG, Novartis, DECTRIS Ltd., Bruker, Oxford Cryosystems, Hampton Research, Quantifoil, MiTeGen, ARINAX, and Rigaku Single Crystal Diffraction. For 3 intensive days, experts from across the globe tackled one of the key challenges at synchrotrons: radiation damage. 🌍 85 participants from Europe, Japan, Australia, and the USA 🎙️ 24 invited speakers, and 16 poster presenters 🏛️ Hosted at PSI, featuring guided tours of our newly upgraded Swiss Light Source (#SLS2) and Swiss X-ray Free Electron Laser (#SwissFEL) The event was a success in every respect: ✅ Outstanding scientific exchange across disciplines (crystallography, SAXS, spectroscopy, cryo-EM, electron diffraction) ✅ New insights on damage mitigation experiments ✅ A forthcoming special issue in Acta Crystallographica Section D to further disseminate workshop results   A big thanks to the organizers: Elspeth Garman and Martin Weik; the local organizers: Florian Dworkowski, Vincent Olieric, and Sonia Reber; the scientific committee, all speakers, poster presenters, participants, and our sponsors💸! ✨ #PSI #SLS2 #SwissFEL #SNSF
