This series is on paper and combines bold abstract brush gestures with the technique of high-gloss gilding. The gold stands for the longing that comes from a dull life and also for the enlightenment of the spirit. In uncertain times, like during this coronavirus period, which has paralyzed our economy and threatened our freedom, we humans long for a future that gives us new perspectives and also new values. We are putting aside the blind consumption that has essentially gone hand in hand with the immediate satisfaction of our needs. When the crisis ends, we will also want to live more sustainable and meaningful lives. We will want to create something that will last. All this requires one thing: courage. My series expresses courage, through the bold gestures of the brushstrokes, but also a kind of reduction to the essential, through the consciously unedited background on plain white paper.
