Aberdeen gets a hard time sometimes. We hear there’s “not enough going on.” But if you look a little closer, there really is. There are people working hard behind the scenes to bring events like this to the city, and they deserve a lot of credit. The part I kept thinking about afterwards wasn’t the athletics. It was the PE teacher Sir Mo spoke about. Someone who spotted something in him and encouraged him. I hope there are still plenty of “PE teachers” out there. Aberdeen has so much going for it. Maybe we just need to get better at shouting about it. Good luck to everyone running today. And what a brilliant video showcasing Aberdeen’s bid for the 2027 Summer Marathon.
