Important Update on Class "L" Fire Extinguishers – July NAFED Legislative Update This week’s NAFED Legislative Update highlights a critical advisory from the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal regarding the use of so-called Class “L” fire extinguishers. These extinguishers are currently being marketed by various companies as effective tools against lithium-ion battery fires. 🔗 Read the advisory As clearly stated in the advisory, there is currently no recognized classification for “Class L” fire extinguishers under existing UL standards. The UL TC 605 technical committee, which Victory Fire & Gas is proud to be a part of, is actively developing a test protocol to establish a legitimate classification for this category. It is crucial that all extinguishers marketed for lithium-ion battery fires undergo rigorous third-party testing and verification to ensure they perform effectively and safely. Misinformation and unverified claims could pose a serious risk to public safety. Victory Fire & Gas is constantly looking to offer a greater insight into the risk and spread knowledge that will help develop a legitimate, standards-based Class “L” designation — something the fire safety industry urgently needs. In the meantime, our AVD6L extinguisher is ready to meet and mitigate this risk: ✔️ UL certified (Class A) ✔️ Third-party verified by UL verification services as safe and effective for use on lithium-ion battery fires Coming soon the 50 litre AVD50L, which will also be tested and verified. Not all extinguishers claiming to fight lithium battery fires are created equal. Independent testing and verification matter. Don’t trust unproven claims — safety must come first. We’re proud to be leading the push for verified, tested, and standards-compliant lithium fire solutions. 👉 Learn more at: www.victoryfiregas.com #FireSafety #LithiumIon #ULVerification #ClassL #AVD #PublicSafety
