Earlier this week, I returned from my second summer at Trail's End Camp in Pennsylvania. Coming back was an easy decision after the incredible experience I had last year — and this summer certainly lived up to expectations. This summer I lived with the ‘Lower Buddies’ who were aged 6-8. Given their age, there was some homesickness and a few tears but supporting them only strengthened my emotional intelligence, patience and compassion. I also reprised my role as a Culinary Specialist; a position I love as it allows me to engage with campers of all ages. Designing cooking lessons that were both fun and adaptable, was a rewarding challenge that pushed my creativity and flexibility. Being a returner, I was also handed more responsibility, regularly stepping up into the role of Group Leader to almost 50 campers and counsellors - a demanding but fulfilling leadership experience. I was also very grateful to have been given a Community Service Award by some of my campers, recognising my work in the bunk. One of the highlights of the summer was being selected as an Olympic Captain, one of the highest honors at Trail’s End. During the five unforgettable days, I led a team of over 200 campers and counselors through sports, sing songs and rope burns, culminating in a win on the final night. Being entrusted with such a role is something I’ll always hold close to my heart. After camp, I thoroughly enjoyed my week of travelling around New York, Nashville and the lovely Martha’s Vineyard. Now, I am excited to start my placement year at Deloitte in the coming weeks!
