In Sculpture Conservation we are passionate about the understanding of the materials and manufacturing techniques in our collections. But then it becomes really something special when studying objects such as this unique and captivating late 15th century Italian terracotta figure, The Virgin with the Laughing Child. https://lnkd.in/eHjUEBay A collaborative research project has now shed new light on this Renaissance jewel after several years of in-depth study, taking us closer to its materiality and context, now available for you to read! https://lnkd.in/en6t9cfJ All possible thanks to a close collaboration between our team with former senior Sculpture conservator Adriana Francescutto Miró, with the Decorative Arts & Sculpture curatorial department Rachel E. Boyd, Ph.D., and Laura Chase, the Conservation Research fellow Charlotte Hubbard, Lucia Burgio our lead Conservation Scientist, the important contribution by Anne Bouquillon at the Centre de recherche et de restauration des musées de France (C2RMF), @Marc Bormand Chief Curator of Sculpture at the Musée du Louvre and the technical support from Dan O'Flynn at the British Museum. #OurVAM
