As OMI Fellow I had the opportunity to spend a whole month in the Department of General Surgery at Universitätsklinikum AKH Wien. My mentor was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jakob Muehlbacher, an excelent scientist, surgeon and a very nice person. The depertment is led by Prof. Dr. Oliver Strobel, a profound pancreatic surgeon. I was privileged to see him at his best, performing a rare and complex operation - pancreaticoduodenectomy with resection and reconstitution of the superiror mesenteric artery and vein.
