Producing glass inevitably leads to air emissions – learn how we manage them. The combustion of natural gas in our furnaces, and the melting of raw materials and cullet, generate emissions such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter (PM). How do we address air pollution? 🔹 We apply Best Available Techniques (BAT) to reduce emissions. 🔹 Our measures include low-NOx burners, energy-efficient furnaces to reduce exhaust volumes, electrostatic precipitators for dust removal, and DeNOx technologies to abate NOx in flue gases leaving the furnaces. 🔹 Air emissions are measured and monitored at our production sites. 🔹 We comply with legally defined emission limits set by local authorities. While air emissions cannot be fully avoided in glass production, transparency, compliance and continuous technical improvement are essential.
