One of the more interesting discussions after the last talk was around the difference between personalisation and empathy. A lot of systems today know who you are. They know your history, your preferences, your behaviour patterns -- but that’s not the same thing as feeling understood. And you really notice the gap in moments where emotion is involved. Healthcare. Hospitality. Service recovery. High-trust interactions. Situations where people don’t just want efficiency, they want reassurance, warmth, confidence, care.
