๐๐ผ๐น๐ฑ ๐บ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป, ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ โ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ผ๐ณ๐๐ฒ๐ป ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฎ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. ย โBold Movesโ was the title of this yearโs #MMK conference โ a very fitting one, because it captures exactly what MMK creates. ย It is one of the spaces where hierarchies blur: when DAX supervisory board members become curious students of the Mittelstand โ and when university students challenge a CEOโs marketing pitch. ย When these conversations unfold, many themes rise to the surface. One of them was the evolving role of supervisory boards: With rising complexity, many agendas are dominated by compliance and risk mitigation. All essential โ but often at the cost of strategic momentum. The stronger signal is this: ๐ด๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐บ๐๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐น๐ ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฑ๐ผ๐๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ธ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐๐ป๐ถ๐๐. From my own experience, this mindset already exists quite naturally in Mittelstand boards. And yet, one diagnosis on stage was hard to ignore: โ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ ๐ถ๐๐๐ฒ๐น๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ ๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐๐น๐๐ฒ.โ If the backbone of the German economy is to regain momentum, a broader mindset shift is needed โ not only in boardrooms but also in politics. Also there we need to ๐บ๐ผ๐๐ฒ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ผ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐๐น๐ ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ธ-๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐น๐ผ๐ด๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ด๐๐น๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ๐ ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฒ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฑ๐๐ฒ๐ โ creating the conditions that allow companies to seize opportunities and scale sustainable innovation. As this was another takeaway: ๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ด โ ๐ถ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐ฒ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Less signalling. More execution, resilience and long-term value creation and a catalyst for bold moves in its own. At a recent futurist event it hit me that ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด๐น๐ ๐ต๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ป๐๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ด๐ด๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ฎ ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ณ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ. ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ญ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ค๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ช๐ง๐ต ๐ช๐ง ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐น๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ค๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ณ๐จ๐บ, ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด๐ต๐ณ๐ถ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ท๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ช๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐จ๐ข๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ๐ด ๐ญ๐ช๐ฌ๐ฆ ๐๐๐ ๐ค๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ต๐ฆ?
