Hardtech innovation is built through direct dialogue between builders and policymakers. We were honoured to welcome Jenna Sudds, MP for Kanata and Parliamentary Secretary for Government Transformation, Public Services and Procurement, and Defence Procurement to ventureLAB. MP Sudds met with ventureLAB founders building dual-use and semiconductor-enabled technologies, including Hamid Karbasi, PhD, P. Eng. (Neatco Engineering Services Inc.), Vahid Yousefi (Prochista Smart Technologies), Dr. Michael Shunock (HeadSense), and Ashkan Beigi (Qoherent). From AI-powered inspection and sensing to resilient infrastructure and defence-ready signal processing, these founders are building tech Canada needs. We dug into how Buy Canadian procurement and targeted support can help companies like these scale faster, access government markets, and strengthen Canada’s defence and industrial base. Huge thanks to MP Sudds for engaging with our founders in a candid, forward-looking conversation. This is what moving from policy to impact looks like!
