𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝘁𝘀 “𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲”. 💪 If machining is the shaping step, heat treatment is the moment a gear gets the strength to survive real duty cycles. At 𝗩𝗖𝗦𝗧, heat treatment is a critical step that gives gears the right balance of 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 and 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 for demanding automotive applications. Depending on the application, we work with in-house processes such as 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 and 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. Each one changes material behaviour in a controlled way, so the gear can handle load, cycles and wear over time. It’s also why heat treatment is never “just a furnace step”. It has to connect tightly with the finishing processes that follow, because strength is only useful if the gear still meets its final geometry and functional requirements.
