A wind turbine produces electricity for around 25 years before it is decommissioned and dismantled. Today, 85–90% of a wind turbine's total mass can already be recycled. The durable composite materials used in rotor blades and nacelle covers are more challenging to recycle, but there's a way. Innovating with our partners, we're demonstrating how dismantled wind turbines can be used to build new things such as bike shelters, benches, skis, parking garages and even compact homes. This week we'll be taking part in London Climate Action Week, where we'll discuss electrification, circularity and sustainability in the energy sector with partners and industry peers. By 2030, our goal is that all decommissioned wind turbine composite waste will be reused, refurbished, repurposed or recycled.
