We're making wind power more flexible. At our new Bruzaholm wind farm in southern Sweden, 21 wind turbines are now connected to a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from day one. The battery can store electricity when production is high and demand is low — and release it back to the grid when more power is needed. It can also respond within milliseconds to help stabilise the electricity system. With an annual production of up to 480 GWh, Bruzaholm will supply fossil-free electricity to both industry and households. Half of the electricity will be purchased by Volvo through a ten-year agreement, while the rest will be sold on the market. Bruzaholm is another step towards a more flexible and resilient fossil free electricity system in Northern Europe.
