Building tech companies

A special evening in Athens on February 12th. The MIT Club of Greece and Brown Club of Greece hosted a joint dinner at the historic Athens Club in honor of Professor Subra Suresh, Vannevar Bush Professor Emeritus at MIT and Professor at Large at Brown University. Over the past two decades, Professor Suresh has served as Dean of Engineering at MIT, Director of the US National Science Foundation, President of Carnegie Mellon University, and President of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He is one of the very few individuals elected to all three US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and a recipient of the US National Medal of Science, the French Legion of Honor, and India's Padma Shri. Professor Suresh delivered the keynote "Innovation 4.0 for Humanity 4.0," exploring how responsible, cross-sector ecosystems can translate scientific discovery into real societal benefit, a theme that resonates deeply with what we try to build here in Southeast Europe. The evening coincided with a remarkable convergence of milestones: 150 years of the Athens Club, 100 years of the Academy of Athens, 40 years of the MIT Club of Greece, and the launch of KOINON, a new global initiative uniting 40 academies worldwide. A reminder that Athens has always been a place where ideas about humanity's future deserve to be debated. #MIT #BrownUniversity #Innovation #MITClubOfGreece #BrownClubOfGreece #Greece #DeepTech #Science #HigherEducation #AcademyOfAthens
