This week at CERAWeek, VAROPreem’s Executive Board joined global leaders from across the energy industry, policymakers and public authorities at a time of clear shift in context — with geopolitical tensions, supply disruptions and uncertainty bringing energy security, resilience and competitiveness back to the forefront.   Our leadership, including Group Chief Executive Officer Dev Sanyal and Deputy Chief Executive Officer and EVP Markets & Customers Magnus Heimburg, spoke across panels, discussions and interviews, covering topics from Europe’s industrial future and biofuels to infrastructure and resilience.   Across these discussions, a few themes stood out:   • Energy security is back at the centre of the agenda: refining, infrastructure and supply chains are increasingly recognised as critical infrastructure and strategic assets, essential to keeping the system running and underpinning economic and national security.   • The transition is becoming more complex: disruption is increasingly structural rather than cyclical, with multiple pressures unfolding simultaneously and markets, policy, technology and customer demand evolving at different speeds.   • Policy matters more than ever: in a period of macroeconomic disruption, clarity on objectives, timelines and consistent implementation — particularly for frameworks such as RED III — is critical to enable investment, scale and cost efficiency.   • There is no single solution: conventional fuels, biofuels and electrification will all play a role, but at different paces.   At VAROPreem, this is exactly where we operate. Our twin-engine strategy combines reliable conventional energy supply with the scaling of competitive low-carbon solutions in a pragmatic, execution-driven way.   We run six manufacturing hubs and have access to an integrated network of more than 120 terminals. Combined with diversified sourcing, trading capabilities, and the expertise of our people operating these systems 24/7, this is how resilience is built and delivered in today’s volatile environment.   We are proud to contribute to these discussions and to be part of shaping the path forward. As the energy system becomes more complex and more security-driven, our focus remains clear: ensuring security of supply while building competitive and scalable solutions for today and the future.
