At Vanderbilt University Hospital, Amythyst, RN, works in the Pulmonary Stepdown unit, and one patient's family says she's the kind of nurse you remember long after discharge. After four hospitals and a diagnosis requiring a double lung transplant, this patient and his wife found their way to Vanderbilt Health. When post-treatment pain left him in tears, Amythyst stayed in the room, advocated to the doctors on his behalf and worked through every option until he found relief. "She took the time to listen to my husband and see how she could help him," his wife wrote in her DAISY Award nomination. "She is one of our favorite nurses on this floor!"
