Let’s meet the board of the Van der Lely Foundation. Today Remco Schoonderwoerd (Treasurer & Secretary) shares what stands out to him in his work for the foundation. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐚 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧? “For me, it is important that the impact is concrete and visible. Projects where you can clearly see the difference being made. Supporting the expansion of Beukenrode Palliatieve Thuiszorg& Hospice, contributing to the restoration of De Stier by Paulus Potter at the Mauritshuis, or helping the Zuivelmuseum to continue its work. Those are tangible results that show exactly what your contribution makes possible.” 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲? “It is essential that everything is well organised. Transparency matters. We need to be sure that the funds are used as intended and that this is properly safeguarded.” 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? “Some applications are very practical. For example, replacing diesel vehicles that could no longer enter environmental zones with electric vehicles, ensuring that children with disabilities can still get to school and that the work of KNGF Geleidehonden can continue in cities. That is exactly the kind of impact we want to support." 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲? “I see it as an honour to contribute and to help make well-considered decisions. I am proud of the impact we are already making and encouraged by the number of initiatives reaching out to us.”
