In the memory of one of the greatest design masters, David Lewis.   Today, 10 years ago, David Whitfield Lewis passed away peacefully after a short period of illness. For all of us who had the great privilege to create together with David, he is immortal, and we would like to salute him today. His all-natural sparkling creativity and dynamism was legendary. He had an ever-youthful desire to challenge the conventions and try new ways to the very end of the design process. He never asked ”why”, but always ”why not”. He was very dedicated to the creative process, eagerly searching for each projects unique reason to exist, and kept tirelessly sketching with cardboard models until the result stood clear and recognizable and fully solved. He engaged passionately with the group of people involved in each project with the task of making the seemingly impossible come to life. David moved from London to Denmark in 1960 and worked throughout his long career mainly with Bang & Olufsen where he has been the man behind some of the biggest design successes. Indeed, he has created numerous excellent design icons that are truly immortal. What we find truly remarkable is how all his iconic designs, even the more than forty years old ones, still look modern and highly attractive.   Torsten Valeur #designmaster #davidlewis
