"I'm grateful that at my age, I'm free." At 88, Anne-Marie is still living in the home and neighbourhood she loves, thanks to Deborah and her team of community nurses. They are part of Buurtzorg Nederland, the Netherlands' largest home-care provider, founded two decades ago by former nurse Jos De Blok on a simple idea: give nurses the autonomy to organise care in self-managed teams, and you will get better care at less cost. At a time when too many #elderly people face isolation and fragmented care, while #healthcare systems grapple with staff shortages and rising costs, the model is inspiring healthcare providers far beyond the #Netherlands.
