Powering greener ports - VAHLE brings shore power to Hamburg ⚓⚡ Reducing emissions in port operations is one of the key challenges on the path toward climate-neutral shipping. Together with Actemium Deutschland, VAHLE is contributing to this transformation with a flexible shore power solution in the Port of Hamburg for HADAG Seetouristik und Fährdienst AG. The system enables ferries to switch off their diesel generators during layovers and instead rely on emission-free energy supplied from shore - significantly reducing both emissions and noise. What makes this solution unique? The infrastructure was specifically designed for floating ferry terminals, where tides and currents continuously change the position of the vessels. ✔ A movable energy supply system adapts to varying distances and heights ✔ A 30-meter conductor rail system delivers up to 860 A at 400 V ✔ Integrated energy, control and data transmission ensures reliable operation ✔ Industrial balancers enable safe and ergonomic handling for ferry crews Based on proven VAHLE technology, the overhead “Stinger system” keeps the energy supply safely out of the working area - avoiding collisions and ensuring smooth daily operations. Already implemented at four berths, the solution is also paving the way for the next step: fully electric ferries, planned from 2027. A strong example of how smart infrastructure supports the transition towards green ports worldwide. 👉 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eVGw77g5
