Part 2! 🎊 16 researchers have secured one of Europe’s most prestigious postdoctoral fellowships to conduct their research projects at UZH. 🔬 The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF), funded by the European Commission, supports excellent researchers in advancing their research, skills and careers through international collaboration and innovation. 💫 The 2025 call was highly selective: Out of 17,066 applications across Europe, only 1,610 were funded. The success of these 16 researchers highlights the international strength and diversity of research at UZH. 🔎 Each fellow will now pursue an innovative research project at UZH. Get to know seven of the awardees below - you can find part 1 here: https://lnkd.in/epnkCP_j 👉 FEDERICO BEGATO, Department of Chemistry ”The project TRACE aims to develop new agents that can both detect and treat prostate cancer by using specially designed radioactive molecules that target cancer cells more precisely, improving diagnosis and therapy.“ 👉 Madeleine Bessen, Department of Physiology ”Severe brain injuries demand faster, safer, and more accessible care, so my research project will advance non-invasive neuromonitoring to work towards making that a reality.“ 👉 Sara Dal Monico, Faculty of Law ”mychOICe develops an inter and intra-disciplinary research project to advance scholarly, policy and cultural debates around the notion of consent. It pursues the goal of enhancing a framework approach to prevent and combat gender-based violence against women.“ 👉 Fernando Peñaranda, Department of Physics ”My research project, jointly conducted at University of California, Berkeley and UZH, investigates how electrons in Kagome materials can spontaneously organize into exotic forms of magnetism and how these compete with other quantum states such as charge density waves or superconducting phases.“ 👉 Sebastian Pögel, Department of Physics ”My project develops new computational tools that bridge mathematics and particle physics, enabling precision predictions required by current and next-generation collider experiments.“ 👉 Fabien Robert, Department of Thoracic Surgery ”I investigate why some patients with chronic lung disease develop pulmonary hypertension, a severe complication associated with poor prognosis, in order to identify future therapeutic targets.“ 👉 Vanesa Rodríguez Tembrás, Institute of Romance Studies ”CROSS-CARE explores how language and intercultural communication shape healthcare encounters between older migrants and healthcare professionals in Switzerland, aiming to support more inclusive, multilingual care.“ Congratulations to all of you and also to John Conolly with the project ProtEAMPs and Michaela Prochazkova with the project BiofilmLightMap! 👏 #UZH | UZH Department of Chemistry, UZH Rechtswissenschaftliche Fakultät, Thoracic Surgery, University Hospital Zurich, UZH Faculty of Medicine, UZH Faculty of Science
