What would you like to know about animal research?   🧠 Based on a survey to find out what questions the Swiss public, particularly young people, has about animal research, Simona Doneva and Tosca Dalessi produced a video series named “Animal Research in Switzerland – explained in simple terms”.   In the videos, the two young UZH researchers together with 12 other, mainly early-career scientists authentically address key questions and provide transparent insights into research involving animals in several academic institutions.   🌏 One video covers the topic "Involving Animals – and Their Alternatives". It fits perfectly in this year's theme-driven campaign of #BOARD26, the "Be Open About Animal Research Day", initiated by #EARA. The global 24-hour campaign addresses a commonly spread, misleading message that portrays animal research and alternative methods as competing rather than complementary.   👉 In the video, you will learn about alternative methods that can complement, and in some cases replace, the use of animals in research. Researchers explain how different approaches are used together to answer scientific questions, in which areas suitable alternatives are already available, and where animal studies remain necessary. They also discuss how the development and promotion of alternative methods is being advanced. #UZH | European Animal Research Association (EARA), Paulin Jirkof
