🔬 Can listening to targeted sounds during sleep help fight Parkinson's disease? A new proof-of-concept study by researchers at the University of Zurich demonstrates that phase-targeted auditory stimulation can successfully enhance deep sleep in patients with Parkinson's disease. Using a non-invasive wearable device at home, the team showed that applying specific acoustic tones increased restorative slow-wave sleep activity by nearly 30 percent, offering a highly scalable way to improve sleep architecture. 💡 Why it matters: Deep sleep is crucial for brain restoration, and its disruption is a major challenge in neurodegenerative conditions. By proving that we can non-invasively boost slow waves in a home setting, this research opens the door to novel, accessible therapies aimed at slowing disease progression and improving patient quality of life. 👥 A massive congratulations to the entire collaborative team for this ground-breaking work: Simon J.
