We're proud to welcome two exceptional leaders to the UW School of Medicine's Academic, Rural and Regional Affairs leadership team. Effective July 1, Estell Williams, MD, joins as Associate Dean for Admissions, and Jenny Wright, MD, joins as Associate Dean for Curriculum. Dr. Williams is an acute care surgeon, associate professor in the Department of Surgery, and founding director of the Center for Workforce Inclusion and Healthcare System Equity (WIHSE) — an initiative dedicated to supporting under-resourced students from early healthcare exposure through health professional school matriculation. She has been engaged in SOM admissions since her own time as a medical student and resident, and has served as a college mentor for the North Cascades College cohort since 2024. Dr. Wright is an associate professor of clinical practice in the Department of Medicine and a primary care provider at UW Medical Center – Roosevelt. Over nearly a decade as associate clerkship director for Internal Medicine — and more recently as clerkship director and medical student programs director — she has built deep relationships with educators across the WWAMI region and led meaningful innovations in clinical education, including contributions to the restructuring of the WRITE program and the shift toward competency-based medical education. Both are UW School of Medicine graduates. Both have spent careers investing in the students who come after them. We couldn't be more excited for what's ahead.
