Student Spotlight: Abigail Moffett, MS1 — UW School of Medicine, Alaska Foundations Site Abigail Moffett began her Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program (RUOP) rotation in Juneau on June 29, bringing with her a TRUST student's head start on community connection. "As a TRUST student, already having a connection to the community is wonderful," Abigail said. "It makes it so easy to already come into a place having some idea of who the providers are and what the people in the community do for fun." Raised by two physician parents, Abigail has wanted to practice medicine since childhood. She's especially drawn to primary care and pediatrics, citing the challenge of individualized diagnosis and the resilience of young patients as core motivators. Her long-term goal: practicing in a smaller, rural Alaska community. This RUOP rotation, she says, is a chance to build a foundational skill: "developing an assessment and plan."
